As severe weather moved through the area this morning, a large pine tree snapped and fell on part of an apartment building.

Firefighters responded at 5:02 a.m. to an apartment building at The Columns at Peachtree Corners located at 911 Concepts 21 Drive in Peachtree Corners.

"Limbs from the tree penetrated the roof and wall of one apartment unit," Gwinnett Fire Cpt. Tommy Rutledge said. "The tree penetrated the roof over the bedroom and part of the wall in the apartment unit directly below."

"One adult occupant from the affected apartment was evaluated and released at the scene by paramedics for a minor injury complaint," Rutledge said.

There were no other injuries reported. Firefighters secured the power to two apartment units and put fire line tape around the downed tree.

Authorities were called to the 160 block of Lake Run in Lawrenceville to a report of a house fire. Rutledge said lightning affected electrical components and there was no active fire on arrival.

Crews were also called to the Pleasant Hill Road area near Summit Ridge Parkway where there were reports of wires down.
